Kickathon 2010

Kick-a-Thon 2010

Every year JKASV organizes and promotes this charity event, and dojos around the world participate. Members collect sponsorship donations and then attempt to perform over 2000 repetitions of traditional karate techniques in a single session. Everyone gets a challenging workout while raising money for worthy charities.

In past years the challenge has been front kicks (mae geri), but this year we're upping the challenge with the option to also do 2011 reverse punches (gyaku zuki). It's a Punch&Kick-a-Thon! This is very challenging, even for the best of athletes. Some participants will likely not be able to complete all 2011 repetitions of either, but everyone is encouraged to try their best.

This year's event will benefit the Christian Blind Mission. CBM is the oldest and largest organization with the primary purpose of improving the quality of life for the blind and disabled living in the world's most disadvantaged societies. We provide preventative, medical, rehabilitative and educational services to millions of people each year. CBM supports more than 1,000 projects in 113 countries, and our aid is available to all people regardless of religion, nationality, race, or gender.

At JKASV in Redwood City, the event took place on December 23rd, 7:00 - 9:00 pm.
